I don’t generally share my planners or planner setups anymore, but I filmed a little setup video of this Kikki K planner that I’m using to keep track of my blog/social media content. I wanted to see if I could put and keep myself on a regular schedule for creating and sharing content.
If you didn’t know, I don’t have a regular 9-5 job. I generally work from home for myself on my shop and channel and sometimes have a freelance gig or two as well. Last year I noticed that I spent A LOT of time doing absolutely nothing because I was working for myself. I didn’t have any structure to my days and I basically created my stuff whenever I felt like creating, which was not good. Sure, it’s nice to create when you want to create, but I found that long periods of procrastinating on creating led to me feeling uninspired and unmotivated to do anything. It’s like they say, “inspiration needs to find you working,” and I was just not working. Now, I have a small part time job that gets me out of the house two days a week, but for the rest of the week I really needed to put myself on some sort of schedule.
And so enters this content planner. I keep a monthly content calendar in here so I know what is due when and what I need to be working on. I gave myself a goal of one video a week with an accompanying blog post as well. And even though I have the calendar, I still made it so I could move things around if I thought of something new I wanted to share. The second section is for running lists of ideas for videos, blog posts, and even ecourses I want to create someday. The third section is for planning out those videos, posts, and ecourses–though so far it’s mostly for planning out the ecourses. And the last sections is for notes on handling and managing content creation and sharing. So like if I read a blog post about how to optimize Instagram content, etc. I jot any notes I want to keep in that section.
So far this system seems to be working out great. I’m ahead of schedule on all the things that I sometimes forget I scheduled this or that. This setup video for instance was filmed in October so there you go! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this setup video!
