Hello there! Wow, even though it was only a week, I feel like I haven’t posted in months. This past week my family and I went to Puerto Rico for a long awaited family vacation. We stood at a resort, El Conquistador, which we had only ever visited just once, because I suggested it (along with other destinations). The first time we visited, my dad’s friend’s wife was the manager and gave us a free pass to visit their private island, Palomino, which my mother loved so much. She didn’t really want to stay with family this time around, she just wanted to relax, so the resort it was.
As any inclusive resort, we pretty much spent our days resting and relaxing. We spent two day on the private island and two days at their cute waterpark. One day was an utter washout as it stormed all day long. We also went off sightseeing, only because the last time we came to Puerto Rico, my brother was two years old and didn’t remember anything. So, we took a trip to Old San Juan and visited both fortifications, El Morro and San Cristóbal, the latter of which I had never visited.
I don’t have much to say about my trip other than it was very relaxing and the island is very beautiful. Old San Juan seemed very different from how I originally remember it, but then again, a lot in Puerto Rico has changed a bit. The rough economy in the States really took a toll on the island’s own economy, which wasn’t very stable to begin with. Crime is still really bad, and though I didn’t see many gated homes this time around (we visited family the previous time), I’m sure there are many more on the island. It really a shame that most visitors to the island aren’t aware of all these social and economic problems on the island. Because the land is truly very beautiful.
But, I’m not going to get all political with this post. Here are a few pictures I’d like to share! I took over 200 photos and these are just a few of my favorites.
