Every day should be Valentine’s Day.
I said this to my brother yesterday and he asked me why I think that. It’s pretty simple really. Why do we as a society allot just one day out of the 365 days of a year to love? The phrase “I Love You” seems foolish, cliched and out of place most of the time when we say it, and yet, it’s somehow not so foolish on February 14th. Cliched, yes, but not so much out of place. Unfortunate as this is, it’s quite true. And yet, it’s still a phrase we all want to hear from those we love the most.
Everyone seems to wait until Valentine’s Day in order to go to great lengths to express their love, because today is special. Everyday is special. It’s so special because it’s never guaranteed to us; we are lucky to see it. Thus, I feel we should be able to say it and express our love to one another every single day.
