what is an unraveling journal? | creative journaling for self growth
Hello lovelies!
Today I’m sharing what I’m doing for my unraveling journal this year. If you recall, I’ve been keeping a journal each year that is all about me. It is a place I record and document my unraveling process. In scrapbook speak, it’s sort of a mixture of “One Little Word” and creative self reflection. I like to think of my journal as a mixture of self discovery and creative play time. It’s a book about me by me for me. My unraveling journal is a place where I document all the little ephipa-mes I have about myself, as well as, where I log all of my hopes, dreams, and inspirations too.
This year, I’m keeping it a little different than before. I’m keeping a deconstructed journal, which I think reflects my a gentle unfurling phrase for the year quite well. It’s basically a journal stack of loose pages that I will be working on.
I’m also planning on sharing a bit more of my process, especially setting up and starting my journal. If you’re still a bit curious at what exactly an unraveling journal is, definitely check out the video below, where I talk about what an unraveling journal is, how I came up with the idea, and how I keep one.
I also have a brand new video up on my Youtube channel today sharing my process of starting my journal. I always begin my journal with the guiding word (or phrase) for the year, an introduction to my journal, and my “stats” page. Starting my journal in this way gives future me a little glimpse at where I was then and I love seeing how I was in the past compared to how I am now.
I’m quite excited to see how this journal unfurls! I’m looking forward to it being super chunky and super textural at the end of this year!
Are you keeping a journal for yourself in this way? I would love to hear if you too are starting your own unraveling journal!
